Howdy teachers and forumers! Previously, we have released our helpful and working tutorial on How to Manually Reset Epson Printers Without Using Any Software. To our surprise, many have also requested for the same tutorial about Canon printers. We don’t want to disappoint our readers that’s why as promised and due to popular demand, here is our tutorial on how to manually reset Canon printers without using any software.
Chip Resetter for Canon PGI-5 CLI-8 MP800 MP810 MP830 MP950 MP960 MP970 Refill. Chip Resetter for Canon PGI-270 CLI-271 PGI-270XL CLI-271X OEM. Hand Held Chip Resetters - Inksupply chip resetters are self contained units, with an internal battery and small pins that contact the cartridge chip. When held against the chip for 6 seconds, it will put the chip back to its electronic FULL setting. This device requires that cartridges be removed from the printer. Great when re-inking a cartridge. Below is the step by step procedure on how to reset your Canon MP (All in One) printer. This procedure and resetter also work fine on following canon printer models: Canon MP150, Canon MP160, Canon MP170, Canon MP180, Canon MP450 and Canon MP460 printer. SIGNS THAT YOUR PRINTER NEEDS RESETTING
*You will see a message that says “Waste ink pad is full“ or something like that.
As we have said the last time, this tutorial will literally save you a couple hundred bucks. This type of reset method is also called a hard reset. It has been tried and tested on the following Canon printer models:

*Canon MP150How to Manually Reset Canon Printers Without Using Any Software
STEP 1: Make sure that your printer is turned on.
Installer download for FL Studio 32bit / 64bit for MacOS / Windows. For full & trial installation. No registration is needed. Fl studio 12.4 download.
STEP 2: Press the power button (this will turn off/switch off your printer)
STEP 3:Once turned off, press on STOP button for two (2) seconds.
STEP 4:While holding on to the STOP button, press the power button at the same time for two (2) seconds and release the STOP button.
STEP 5: After letting go of the STOP button (while you are still pressing the power button), press the STOP button five (5) times.
STEP 6: Immediately after pressing the STOP button for five (5) times, release the power button.
That’s it! You’re done! Your Canon printer will now go on reset mode. The LCD screen on printer should go blank. Your printer will start making a couple of noises but it’s normal. Once the printer stopped making noises, just press on the power button. This will turn off or restart your printer.
If in case your printer asks for a new driver, just reinstall your Canon printer’s driver.

Low ink warnings / No printing allowed
As the electronics in the Canon ink cartridge and the printer communicate with each other, the printer may incorrectly identify an ink cartridge as empty or non-functional, and printing will not be allowed. Typically, the printer’s Power/Ink level light will be blinking or an error message may be displayed (i.e. “Ink Has Run Out”) during the error condition.
To reset the Canon 245, 245XL, 246 or 246XL cartridge’s ink low alert condition (blinking or illuminated ink lamps) perform the following ink reset procedures:
NOTE 1: On select MX/MG printer models you may need to hold two buttons down – not just the stop button. You will need to hold the COLOR button (or black button) AND the STOP button for 5-8 seconds to reset the ink level monitor/counter feature.
Standard Ink Level Reset Procedure:
1) Install cartridge and start print job.
2) After first message appears, click ‘OK’ to continue. Printer should start printing.
3) If second message appears and printer’s LCD screen displays error code “E”, then DO NOT click ‘CANCEL PRINTING’.
4) Press and hold down ‘Stop/Reset’ (or ‘Stop/Resume‘) button (triangle-circle icon) on your printer for 5-8 seconds until the ink low indicators turn off or printer LCD displays a “1” (select models).Chip Resetter Canon
NOTE 2:Following printer reset the ink low indicator may remain illuminated (steady, but not flashing) and you should still be able to print. If the respective indicator light continues to flash or displays an error code and printing is not permitted, then the cartridge may have suffered an internal electrical failure.ALTERNATIVE PRINTER RESET PROCEDURES:

If you still have an error condition which prohibits printing, then the ink cartridge may have internal electrical damage (micro-electronics failure); such a failure is unrelated to the ink cartridge refilling process and naturally occurs with time, use and age of ink cartridge. Typically, when the cartridge fails the problem is ‘masked’ by the ink out/empty condition so it can be difficult to distinguish between the two.
NOTE 3:A compatible ink cartridge can be problematic when installed into the printer following refilling. Compatible cartridges are typically purchased on-line or at select retailers (i.e sold under a different label than the regular Canon cartridge packaging) and is essentially a “knock-off cartridge” of the Canon original/genuine ink cartridge. For the best refilling experience, only use Canon original/genuine or remanufactured Canon ink cartridges.Sharp Chip Resetter
NOTE 4: All cartridges being repeatedly refilled eventually do fail. Some cartridges/printers may encounter an unavoidable mechanical or electrical failure which is unrelated to refilling. Check for physical damage on the cartridge. Look at the print cartridge and see if there are any cracks, tears or missing elements. Any one of these can cause a failure.
